With a blue tipped talon, she pierced the sunset colored flesh. Pungent oils of pine and fruity sunshine burst forth from the jagged injury. She grimaced with dismay, raising the orb unto her mouth she bit into its distasteful skin near the belly button where a blossom once hung. She spat out a chunk of dermis and proceeded to widen the gaping wound with three of her painted, pointed fingers, keeping close to the navel. Her hand clenched in a gentle fist, she gently pulled back the thin covering of carroty covering, careful not to pierce the inner flesh of pulpy sweetness.

She peeled and peeled until all color was gone and nothing remained but a rough pale surface spattered with juice-filled veins. With both hands facing each other as if in prayer, she pulled apart the sphere from its core into two near perfectly halved sections. One-half she placed on a plate before her, the other she held in her left hand. With her right hand, she peeled off a section of juicy meat and popped it, completely, into her mouth. A small spurt of sugary water dripped from the corner of her mouth. She wiped it away haphazardly with the back of her wrist and proceeded to repeat the process, ripping, peeling, chomping, chewing, devouring the helpless produce carcass, relishing its sweetness, occasionally grimacing at the bite of sourness, filling her belly, nourishing her body with the body of life less fortunate than her own.
